KUCHING, March 14: The federal government will continue supporting the people through the targeted RON95 fuel subsidy under the BUDI95 initiative, while keeping petrol and diesel prices steady despite rising subsidy costs.

Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan revealed that the government’s petrol subsidy has risen to RM2 billion, while the diesel subsidy now stands at RM1.2 billion per month, up from RM700 million previously.

“Even as the Madani government navigates the impact of rising global oil prices, we remain committed to ensuring that the people benefit from the BUDI95 initiative. This provides much-needed relief to households,” he said in a Bernama news on Friday (March 13).

He added that the government can still shoulder the increased burden thanks to the fiscal reforms and consolidation carried out over the three years of Madani governance.
