KUCHING: Maybank Group has boosted its zakat contribution to Sarawak by nearly RM1.3 million this year, pledging RM3.5 million to support development initiatives and aid the needy.
Group president and chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli said the increase from last year’s RM2.2 million reflected the bank’s growing commitment to the state.
“Maybank is deeply involved in Sarawak’s business landscape, and we align our efforts with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s vision for sustainability, clean energy, and logistics,” he said after a courtesy call on the Premier at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today (Aug 9).
“We are committed to partnering with the Sarawak government and local businesses to drive economic growth,” he added.
Maybank operates 32 branches in Sarawak, supported by over 900 employees.
Also present were Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel and Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha.
