KUCHING, Dec 1: Sarawak’s Ministry Of International Trade, Industry And Investment (MINTRED) has been allocated a total ceiling of RM403.25 million under the Malaysian Plan 13 (RMK-13) for the development of 15 industrial parks and 15 Anjung Usahawan projects.
Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh said the developments form part of a broader strategy to extend essential business and manufacturing infrastructure into small towns and rural areas.
“All these vital projects are currently progressing through various stages of implementation, including site identification, siting application, land acquisition, design, and tender preparation,” he said when delivering the Ministry’s winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today.
Under the RMK-12, Malcolm reported that the Ministry announced has successfully completed six industrial park projects covering 119 acres with a total cost of RM132.1 million in Kuching, Sri Aman, Betong, Bintulu, and Miri.
In addition, two Anjung Usahawan in Kuching division were constructed with total cost of RM19.2 million.
“With increasing demand for business facilities, the completed developments will provide more ready-to-occupy industrial sites and dedicated facilities for industries to grow and support our local SMEs,” Malcolm said.
“Building upon this momentum, the Ministry has already commenced the next phase of expansion. We are now constructing five additional industrial parks in the key growth centres of Kuching, Sibu, and Bintulu, encompassing a total development area of 417 acres.
“These five new industrial parks and four new Anjung Usahawan projects will be implemented through an approved ceiling of RM139.1 million,” he added. – DayakDaily
