RM450,000 allocated to upgrade the infrastructure of six schools in Meradong

BINTANGOR, 6 Oct: The Sarawak Government has allocated RM450,000 to implement six new projects through the RTP which focuses on improving school infrastructure and facilities in the Meradong District of State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

Member of the Meradong State Legislative Assembly (ADUN), Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, said the provision reflects the government's commitment to ensuring that educational institutions in rural areas continue to receive safe and comfortable facilities.

He said that among the projects approved is construction of a new building for preschool classes at Su Ming National Type School (SJK) at a cost of RM200,000.

"Additionally, Tanah Putih SJK received RM50,000 to build parking facilities, while the National School (SK) Rentap allocated RM50,000 to upgrade all-purpose halls and information and communication technology (ICT) rooms", he said after witnessing the RTP DUN Meradong Project Site Approval Handover here today.

Kuong Hiing said that Yong Kwong School also received RM50,000 allocation for the work of packing and improving the safety of the school fence.

SJK Yong Cheng said it had received RM50,000 for electrical wiring work to ensure the school's electrical system was in better and safer condition.

"SJK Tong Hua also received RM50,000 for the work of upgrading the school fence to improve safety and comfort aspects of the students", he said.

He said the implementation of the project is expected to directly benefit students, teachers and school staff as well as help create a more conducive learning environment.

He said the Sarawak government will continue to pay attention to the need for basic educational facilities, especially in rural areas, so that education development can be carried out in a balanced and sustained manner. -TVS
