KUCHING, Apr 21: The RM47 million SK Muara Payang road project has commenced and is expected to be completed in 2028.
According to a press release, a site handover meeting for the project was held today, where it was chaired by Kuala Rajang assemblyman and Rajang Delta Development Agency (Radda) chairman, Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
The project will cover the area from Kampung Bugis and Bukit Huang to the Muara Payang Scheme, with the Sarawak Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) serving as the implementing agency.
The conceptual design and locality plan for the SK Muara Payang road project.“The implementation of this project aims to provide improved and more reliable road access, which will not only facilitate the daily activities of residents but also bring wide-ranging positive impacts on the socio-economic development of the local community.
“Through a more efficient connectivity network, the economic potential of surrounding areas can be strengthened, thereby enhancing the standard of living and overall well-being of residents along the project alignment,” said the press release.
This 7.5km paved road will benefit residents of Kampung Bukit Huang, Sungai Salah, Parit Bugis, and Muara Payang, with a total population of 910 people.
It will also provide land access connecting them to SK Muara Payang as well as Sarikei town, which previously had no road access. — DayakDaily
