KUCHING (Feb 14): The Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Serian community building, a new landmark symbolising the progress and unity of the Bidayuh community, has been completed.
The RM5.1-million facility marks a milestone for the DBNA in strengthening its presence in Serian.
The symbolic handover by the contractor to DBNA on Friday was witnessed by Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus and Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada, alongside Premier’s Department Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong, DBNA president Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik, Serian District Council chairman Dato Peter Minos, and other guests.
“The new building is expected to streamline DBNA’s administrative and management systems, particularly in assisting the community with customary land issues,” according to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit report.
“In addition to serving as an administrative centre, it features modern, community-friendly facilities, including a badminton court, accommodation rooms, a multipurpose hall, and a cafeteria space.”
Ik Pahon said the official launch is scheduled before the Gawai celebrations and expressed hope that the facility will host various events while becoming an iconic symbol for the Bidayuh community in Serian.
