KUCHING, April 14: Malaysia government will provide a RM50 rebate on flight tickets between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, and the Federal Territory of Labuan in conjunction with the Gawai and Kaamatan celebrations, effective from May 15 to June 14.

In a TVS news, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the initiative is expected to benefit around 100,000 passengers travelling on these routes.

He added that the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) will allocate RM5 million to cover the cost of the rebate.

“This initiative is aimed at ensuring the sustainability of aviation operations while delivering meaningful benefits to the public, particularly those travelling for work, education, family commitments, and other essential needs,” he said.

He said this at a press conference held in conjunction with the Campaign on the Use of Rail to Address Rising Fuel Costs at his ministry in Putrajaya today.

“The initiative also reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a public transport system that remains accessible and affordable for all,” he said.

In addition, the government also announced an extension of the credit period for payment of fees and charges from 30 days to 60 days, effective May 1, 2026.

“This extension will help improve cash flow for a two-month period. The proposal was also well received by airlines following discussions held yesterday,” he added. — DayakDaily
