RM5m boost for village roads

LUNDU: The Greater Kuching Development Coordination Agency (GKCDA) has allocated RM5 million for the upgrading and refurbishment of village roads in Tanjong Datu.
Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan said the welfare and comfort of the local community remain his top priorities.
“This project focuses on essential facilities and infrastructure development, including drainage systems, electricity, roads, and footbridges connecting homes,” he said during the recent launch of the GKCDA project.
The funding is supported by the federal government and the Sarawak government under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12), the Sarawak Rural Transformation Project (RTP) approved by the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Azizul thanked Premier for new policies implemented through the development agency and former Tanjong Datu assemblywoman Datuk Patinggi Puan Sri Jamilah Anu for advocating for Tanjong Datu’s inclusion in the GKCDA development programme.
The project, which commenced on Aug 24, is expected to be completed by Aug 24, 2025.
It will benefit Kampung Telok Serabang, Sebuloh, Seketi Cina, Tabuan Dayak, Sungai Cina, Sampadi Cina, and Kampung Sebat Dayak.
The Lundu District Council will implement the project, with Parakian Development Sendirian Berhad as the contractor.
Also present were GKCDA Chief Executive Officer Datu Ik Pahon Joyik, Lundu District Officer Awang Yusup Awang Mostapha, Lundu District Council Secretary Norashikin Brahim, Pemanca Bentani Suni, and Pemanca Benjamin Gersit Jais.
