Ashwad delivers his speech during the closing ceremony of the Jelajah Ramadan 2026, at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang in Sibu.
SIBU (March 8): The Jelajah Ramadan 2026 programme by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) concluded in Sibu on Sunday after covering more than 2,800 kilometres (km) across 14 states nationwide.
RTM director-general Ashwad Ismail during the closing ceremony said that the programme, now in its 14th edition, has grown into one of RTM’s flagship initiatives and remains an important platform for the national broadcaster to engage directly with communities across the country.
According to him, the Jelajah Ramadan squad travelled 2,800.99 km from Feb 16 to March 8, involving 15 vehicles and about 40 crew members, including radio announcers and invited celebrities.
Throughout the nationwide tour, the team organised community-based activities at 33 selected locations, bringing RTM programmes closer to the public while strengthening engagement with local communities.
The programme also achieved its corporate social responsibility objective, with about 1,300 individuals – including asnaf groups, underprivileged families and members of the community – receiving assistance through welfare visits and the distribution of contributions.
In conjunction with RTM’s 80th anniversary this year, the Jelajah Ramadan squad also undertook a special mission to visit 80 mosques nationwide, which was successfully completed during the tour.
“The programme reflects RTM’s continued commitment as the national public broadcaster to remain close to the people while promoting unity and compassion during Ramadan,” said Ashwad.
