KUCHING, May 10: Sarawak today launched the JobSarawak platform featuring a real-time employment dashboard to help match workers with growing job vacancies linked to the State’s economic transition plans.
Speaking to reporters after attending the State-level Labour Day celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the platform would provide clearer and more up-to-date employment data to support workforce planning in the State.
He said the dashboard enables job vacancies to be monitored in real time and categorised by sector, providing a clearer picture of labour demand as Sarawak’s economy continues to expand.
According to him, the increasing number of vacancies reflects the State’s improving economic performance and rising demand for skilled workers across various industries.
“We require workers with different skills, including those with training, upskilling and higher qualifications,” he said.
Abang Johari added that Sarawak’s economic transition plans towards 2030 and beyond would require expertise in emerging sectors such as aerospace and semiconductor industries, which are expected to create more high-income jobs.
He said the State government introduced the platform after existing e-recruitment systems were found to be lacking in data coordination capabilities.
“So we are using a new digital platform that provides important data in creating jobs aligned with our economic transition mission,” he said.
He explained that the platform would strengthen coordination between employers and the government while allowing job seekers to access vacancy information and apply directly for available positions.
Earlier, Abang Johari conveyed appreciation to Sarawak workers for their contributions and for the strong cooperation between employers, employees and the government in driving the State’s development. — DayakDaily
