KUCHING (Jan 3): Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA) president Dato Patrick Liew Chin Joon has been re-elected as First Vice President of the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) for the 2026–2028 term recently, reaffirming strong nationwide confidence in his leadership.
Describing the renewed mandate as both an honour and a responsibility, Liew said he was grateful for the trust placed in him by state affiliates.
“I am deeply honoured and truly delighted to have been re-elected as the first vice president of LTAM.
“This renewed mandate is both a privilege and a profound responsibility, which I accept with humility, commitment and a clear focus on advancing the development of tennis in Malaysia,” he told The Borneo Post.
Liew also expressed appreciation for being unanimously appointed chairman of the LTAM Tournaments, Officiating and Technical Development Sub-Committee, receiving all 52 votes from delegates representing 15 state affiliates.
“Receiving a unanimous mandate is an extraordinary honour. It reflects our shared vision, unity and collective belief in the future of Malaysian tennis,” he added.
He noted that the re-election comes at a significant time, with Kuching preparing to host the SEA Games tennis events, providing an opportunity to elevate national tournament standards, strengthen officiating, and enhance technical development pathways.
“This is a timely moment to elevate national tournament standards, strengthen officiating excellence and enhance technical development pathways, while showcasing Malaysia’s capability to deliver world-class sporting events on the regional stage,” he said.
Looking ahead, Liew said he looks forward to working with LTAM, state affiliates, and key stakeholders to strengthen Malaysian tennis.
“Together, we will continue to build a sustainable, inclusive and competitive ecosystem that nurtures talent and inspires the next generation,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to serve Malaysian tennis with integrity, unity and purpose.
