KOTA KINABALU (Dec 31): The Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) will be holding its Third Council swearing-in ceremony, with the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, Zhu Xinglong, invited as the guest of honour and officiating witness.
SCCC President Datuk Frankie Liew announced on Wednesday that the swearing-in ceremony of the new council will be held on March 16, in the evening at the Imperial Banquet Hall, Sabah Hakka Complex.
In preparation for the ceremony, Liew, together with Deputy President Brett Chua and several Vice Presidents, paid a courtesy visit to the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, where they met with Consul General Zhu Xinglong. During the meeting, Zhu graciously accepted the invitation to serve as the officiating and witnessing guest of honour for the ceremony.
Liew expressed his sincere appreciation to the Consulate General for its longstanding support and cooperation, which has laid a strong foundation for close collaboration between the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce and the Consulate.
He also commended Zhu for his proactive and outstanding leadership since assuming office earlier this year, noting that the Consul General has maintained close engagement and cooperation with the Chinese community and business sector, providing strong encouragement and meaningful support to the local Chinese community.
Liew said that the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce will continue to uphold its founding objectives and mission by actively promoting investment and trade cooperation between China and Sabah. He expressed hope that the Chamber will maintain close collaboration with the Consulate General in the future, working hand in hand to advance regional economic, cultural, trade, and educational development.
He added that the inauguration of the Third Council marks an important milestone for the Chamber, signalling a more proactive role in strengthening cooperation within the Chinese community and contributing to local economic development, as well as further enhancing China–Sabah trade relations.
