KUCHING, May 20: In support of Federal Government’s Pelan Transformasi Ekonomi Bumputera 2035, or PuTERA35, the Majlis Ekonomi Bumputera Sarawak has introduced the Sarawak Bumiputera “3-7-20″ Framework where the creation of three Bumiputera companies to be listed on Bursa is among the targets.
Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the initiative will be implemented under the Sarawak Bumputera Economic Action Plan 2035.
This initiative aims to strengthen Bumiputera participation in high- value sectors and enhance long-term economic resilience. The framework targets include the creation of three Bumputera companies listed on Bursa Malaysia; the development of seven Bumputera “champion” companies in strategic sectors aligned with PCDS 2030; and the transformation of 20 percent of Bumiputera micro-enterprises into private limited companies.
“We have identified eight high-performing Sarawakian Bumiputera companies to participate in the Elevate Programme organised by TERAJU and the Securities Commission Malaysia. The programme aims to strengthen operational capacity, corporate governance,
compliance, and readiness for listing o n the capital market.
“To date, three Sarawakian companies in the oil and gas and engineering sectors have successfully progressed and are in the process of listing on Bursa Malaysia,” said Awang Tengah when delivering his winding up speech at Sarawak Legislative Assembly here today.
The Bukit Sari Assemblyman (GPS-PBB) said this achievement reflects Sarawak’s commitment to developing competitive, sustainable, and high-impact Bumputera businesses.
It also highlights the importance of strategic collaborations with established non-Bumiputera companies to unlock greater
opportunities and expand into domestic and international markets, Awang Tengah who is also Deputy Premier added.
To support these strategies, he said the Sarawak Government will continue strengthening digital infrastructure, talent development, access to financing, market opportunities, and resilient local supply chains.
“We will also intensify strategic partnerships to ensure local enterprises are better prepared to meet investor expectations and
industry requirements.
“In this regard, my Ministry has developed ENBASE, a centralised one-stop digital MSME repository and entrepreneurship
management system,” said Awang Tengah who is also Natural Resources and Urban Planning Minister.
ENBASE is designed to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem by integrating support services, data, and business opportunities
for MSMEs. The platform will simplify access to financial assistance, training, and development programmes, while enabling more coordinated and effective policy planning by the Government, Awang Tengah said. —DayakDaily
