SIBU (Nov 2): The Sarawak Career and Training Fair (SCaT Fair) 2024, hosted by the Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD Sarawak), offers over 1,100 job opportunities across various sectors, said Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.
He said the fair is a key initiative under his ministry, and it is in collaboration with strategic partners, including Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas) and the Social Security Organisation (Socso), along with other agencies.
“SCaT Fair is a vital platform for job seekers, students, and educators to gain insights into a wide range of career and training opportunities,” he said at the opening ceremony at Sibu Indoor Stadium here today. His speech text was read by his deputy, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.
Sagah said since 2023, MEITD Sarawak has organised the SCaT Fair at two locations annually to ensure greater accessibility for the public.
He said last year, it was held in Kuching and Miri and has been expanded to include Sibu this year. The Kuching event was held on Oct 5 to 6.
As Sarawak works towards becoming a high-income state, cultivating a skilled workforce is essential to supporting the state’s development goals, he said. He added that events such as the SCaT Fair are pivotal to bridging the gap between talent and opportunity.
“In today’s rapidly evolving job market, access to information about potential career paths and training programmes is essential for personal and professional growth,” he added. – Bernama
