KUCHING, Dec 1: The Sarawak Ministry of Utility and Telecommunications (MUT) is exploring the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) as a method to accelerate the implementation of key public water supply across the State.

MUT minister Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi said this during his winding up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today.

He shared that his Ministry is looking into PFI to execute projects under the Non-Revenue Water (NRW) programme and the Sarawak Alternative Water Supply (SAWAS) scheme in rural areas.

“We are exploring PFI right now. My Ministry, together with the office, the State finance secretary, and the water supply agency are currently examining the implementation method,” said Julaihi.  — DayakDaily
