KUCHING (March 11): The Sarawak government intends to explore joint investment opportunities with France to strengthen strategic cooperation.
The matter was discussed during a courtesy call from the French Ambassador to Malaysia Marc Abensour on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Satria Pertiwi Complex in Petra Jaya here.
According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report, the courtesy call aimed to explore potential collaboration between Sarawak and France in sectors such as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), maritime, aviation, renewable energy, oil and gas, as well as carbon capture, utilistion and storage (CCUS).
“These sectors align with Sarawak’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030, which focuses on sustainable economic growth, the development of renewable energy, and the expansion of digital economy,” it said.
During the meeting, Abensour also acknowledged Sarawak’s growing position as a preferred destination for high-tech and sustainable investments, which are supported by its abundant renewable energy resources and strong industrial infrastructure.
He added that Sarawak’s stable political environment provided confidence and security for long-term investment, while its strategic location positions it as a gateway to the wider Asean market.
