KUCHING (March 14): The Sarawak government has approved RM200,000 for the maintenance of the Kampung Sungai Ladong road to improve access for the island village residents, said State Utility and Telecommunication Minister Dato Julaihi Narawi.
According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the road has provided safer connectivity as previously, residents had to cross the South China Sea from Sadong Jaya by boat.
“Now river transportation is no longer necessary as the village is connected by road,” he said during the Ramadan Ziarah programme in Sebuyau.
The Sebuyau assemblyman also highlighted the importance of unity and mutual assistance among communities, especially during Ramadan, noting that welfare initiatives like Ramadan Ziarah help both those in need and strengthen ties between leaders and grassroots communities.
Also present were State Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication deputy permanent secretary Syed Mohamad Fauzi Shahab, Sacofa Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Jafer Sadig Abdul Lathiff, Samarahan Division Resident’s representative Anuar Daan, and Sebuyau district officer Ayuradiman Bujang.
