Sarawak honours 152 at investiture ceremony for outstanding service

KUCHING (Feb 5): A total of 152 individuals were conferred with medals at the Sarawak State Honours and Awards Investiture Ceremony at the Astana Negeri today, recognising outstanding and contributions across various sectors.

Among the recipients of the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (PPC) were Sarawak Health Department director Dr Veronica Lugah, Sarawak Education Department director Omar Mahli, Samarahan Division Resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang and Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit director Superi Awang Said.

Others included Premier’s Department Administration Unit director Rusmaliza Mat Darus, Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment deputy permanent secretary Lo Sheu Sia, Sarawak Ombudsman chief administrator Wan Mohamad Wan Drahman, Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development deputy permanent secretary Syed Ismail Nasiruddin Dato Sri Wan Hashim, and Ministry of Utilities and Communications deputy permanent secretary Syed Mohamad Fauzi Shahaib.

The ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Dewan Besar of Astana Negeri.

Wan Junaidi also presented the Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS) to four recipients, including Borneo Medical Centre consultant urologist Dr Lim Meng Shi, New Sarawak Tribune associate editor Murugaiah Meyappan, Geomatics Survey Consultants principal Sulaiman Salleh, and Ministry of Economy senior assistant director Nor Shahida Mohd Sahimi.

In addition, 17 individuals received the Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK), 20 were awarded the Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (PPB), 13 received the Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS), and 21 the Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK).

A further 32 recipients were conferred the Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (PPT), while the ceremony concluded with 36 individuals receiving the Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS), the largest group of awardees.

Among those present were the Yang di-Pertua Negeri’s wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi; Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, and other distinguished guests.
