KUCHING: The Sarawak Kitchen has opened at the 2024 Sarawak Regatta Kuching Waterfront Festival, featuring 36 food and beverage vendors alongside 14 sales booths to create a lively atmosphere for locals and tourists alike.
Running from Friday (Oct 25) to Nov 3, the Sarawak Kitchen operates daily from 9am to 10pm at the Kuching Waterfront.
It is organised by the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED), in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED) and various state agencies, such as the Sarawak Department of Agriculture, Department of Social Welfare, Department of Women and Family, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), the Malaysia Cooperative Societies Commission (MCSC), the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), and the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM).
MINTRED’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) advisor Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais officiated the pre-launch ceremony, representing Deputy Premier and MINTRED minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Naroden highlighted the Sarawak Kitchen’s role in not only enhancing tourism but also supporting local entrepreneurs by providing a valuable platform to showcase their products.
The vendors at Sarawak Kitchen serve a variety of local cuisines and beverages, catering to diverse tastes and adding a unique culinary experience to the festival.
Meanwhile, the 14 micro, small and medium enterprises (SMSEs) sales booths are offering a range of dry food products, health and beauty items, and other local goods.
In addition to the food and shopping experiences, Sarawak Kitchen offers a full programme of activities designed to entertain visitors of all ages.
Scheduled events on the Sarawak Kitchen stage include karaoke contests, a children’s fashion show, fruit-eating competitions, a makeup demonstration, cooking demos, and a mini science show presented by PETRONAS.
