BINTULU (Aug 18): The Sarawak Muaythai team secured their first bronze medal at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024, thanks to Mohammad Izzat Zulfaqar Hazrid’s performance in the men’s 60-63.5kg category.

Mohammad Izzat demonstrated remarkable skills and determination, despite facing a more experienced opponent.

He ultimately lost to Terengganu’s star fighter, Nor Iman Aliff Rakib, with a score of 5-24 in the semifinals yesterday.

Despite the setback, the Sarawak team remains optimistic as five other athletes have advanced to the final showdown tomorrow.

Mauriene Hii Sie Lin (48-51kg), Cherilynn Christalle Qi Q Chan (51-54kg), Muhammad Mikail Ghazali Zulfikar (51-54kg), Texas Jeremy Lo (54-57kg), and Azhad Haziq Syafaat Abdul Khalid (67-71kg) will represent Sarawak in their respective weight categories.
