KUCHING (July 11): Abigail Kee Zing Ning made a triumphant return to the national scene when she bagged two gold, one silver, and one bronze at the National Armwrestling Championships at Centre Point in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on Sunday.
The Kuching lass had temporarily left the sport two years ago to pursue further studies in Singapore.
Abigail won the 57kg and Above titles for Left Arm and Right Arm in the Girl’s Junior U21 category.
Competing against older opponents in the Senior Women category, she obtained the silver in the Right Arm and the bronze in the Left Arm.
“After taking a two-year break, I am back again and I got to take my chance to compete in the Junior U21 because next year I will be competing in the Women’s Open.
“Going to the national meet with the Sarawak team reminded me again of all the adrenaline, pressure and excitement and, in this tournament, I cheered so hard for the teammates although I am not close to many of them. As long as they are Sarawakians, I will cheer for them as hard as I can,” she said in a Facebook post.
She said there are many new faces she had never seen as well as old-timers who are still in the game.
“It just shows how fast this sport has advanced in two years,” added Abigail.
Her younger brother Acho Prince Kee Zing Yang also impressed in the Boys Junior 70kg and Above with a gold in the Right Arm and silver in the Left Arm.
Another gold medalist was Cristal Adam Jabry who won the Senior Men 63kg Left Arm and picked up the bronze in the Right Arm.
