KUCHING, Dec 1: Sarawak’s continued environmental initiatives have contributed to generally healthy air quality this year, with the State’s overall Air Pollutant Index (API) levels recorded between ‘Good’ (0-50) and ‘Moderate’ (51-100) from January to October 2025.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salih said to expand the coverage of air quality monitoring stations and enhance the level of comprehensive enforcement, the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) has added two new stations in Kanowit and Belaga.
This is in addition to the existing five stations (Lundu, Tebedu, Lubok Antu, Bario and Lawas).
“There are 12 air quality monitoring stations under the supervision of the Department of Environment which also operate in Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu, Samalaju, Miri, ILP Miri and Limbang,” he said during the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today. – DayakDaily
