KUALA LUMPUR, 5 Oct: Sarawak is ready to share expertise and systems developed by the region with the Federal Government in an effort to improve land management efficiency, forestry and mineral sector development.
Deputy Sarawak Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that Sarawak has implemented an online system of land ownership transactions through e-LASIS since 2009, which allows the matter to be resolved within a day.
He said the matter was shared at the 83rd National Land Council Meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today, following the Federal Government's proposal to speed up the registration process and land ownership transactions in a day.
"We have been conducting land ownership transactions in Sarawak since 2009 through the e-LASIS system we have set up.
"Our system includes, if I'm not mistaken, 67 types of land transactions, for example in terms of KBN, ranking and sublease", he told TVS after attending the meeting at Parliament Building today.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Minister of Agriculture and Commodities Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad as well as senior ministers and chief ministers.
Awang Central said Sarawak is also ready to share the system with the Federal Government if it can help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of land transaction business in the country.
He said Sarawak also shared experience related to the geolocation system and identification of wood species in the forest sector that has been implemented so far.
"Sarawak has geolocated and identified wood species and has its own system. If the federal government is interested in seeing the system we've implemented, we're willing to share", he said.
