Sarawak sets aside RM139.1 million for industrial, entrepreneurship hubs

KUCHING (Dec 2): Sarawak is set to see the development of five new industrial parks and four new Anjung Usahawan projects with an approved ceiling of RM139.1 million, said Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh.

Looking ahead to the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (Mintred) has been allocated with a total ceiling of RM403.25 million for the development of 15 industrial parks and 15 Anjung Usahawan projects.

“We are now constructing five additional industrial parks in key growth centres—Kuching, Sibu, and Bintulu—covering a total development area of 417 acres,” he said during his winding-up speech at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

All projects are progressing through various stages, including site identification, land acquisition, design, and tender preparation.

Previously, the ministry successfully completed six industrial park projects covering 119 acres at a total cost of RM132.1 million in Kuching, Sri Aman, Betong, Bintulu, and Miri.

Meanwhile, two Anjung Usahawan projects in the Kuching division were completed at a total cost of RM19.2 million.

On other developments supporting the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, he said the upcoming Sarawak Bioindustrial Park in Kota Samarahan and Kota Petra Green Technology Park in Kuching are expected to attract over RM14 billion in private investments and create thousands of high skilled employment opportunities.
