KUCHING (Nov 3): Over 560 runners took part in the Sarawak Skills Development Centre (Sarawak Skills)’s charity run here today.
The event, held in conjunction with Sarawak Skills’ 30th anniversary, was flagged off by its chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain.
Organised in collaboration with the Sarawak Electronics and Supporting Industries Companies Association, City Joggers Club and Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), the run aimed to promote a healthy and active lifestyle within the community.
The event was divided into two categories: the 5km that commenced at 6.30am, and the 3km that was flagged off at 6.40am.
Sarawak Skills executive director Hallman Sabri said the run was held not only to celebrate the institution’s three decades of excellence in technical and vocational education and training (TVET), but also to highlight the importance for all stakeholders to work together for the betterment of the community.
“The proceeds from this event, amounting to RM45,000, will be dedicated to purchasing a new dialysis machine for SGH’s Nephrology Department, to enhance patient care for those in need,” he said in a statement.
“The charity run underscores Sarawak Skills’ commitment to fostering a healthier community while supporting vital healthcare services in the region,” he added.
At the event, the participants had the chance to take part in a lucky draw and also took part in a lively mass aerobics session.
