BINTULU: The Sarawak sepak takraw team wrapped up their first men’s team match with a narrow 2-1 defeat against Sabah.
The highly intense match held at Stadium Muhibbah earlier this morning saw Sarawak edged out by Sabah in a closely contested battle.
In the opening set, Sarawak fought hard but fell just short, leading to a crucial deciding (rubber) set. Despite their best efforts, Sabah’s team proved too strong in the first set.
However, Sarawak’s resilience shone through as they bounced back with a commanding performance in the second set, winning 15-9 and 15-5 thanks to sharp strategy and teamwork.
The third set brought intense action as Sarawak’s third pair pushed the match to a tiebreaker by claiming the second set 15-10. Yet, they ultimately faced a setback as Sabah clinched the final set 15-8 with their superior play.
This close loss fuels Sarawak’s determination as they look ahead to their next challenge.
Sarawak will face Terengganu in a crucial match to secure their spot in the quarter-finals.
