KANOWIT (March 8): The Sarawak government will take over the Nanga Dap-Nanga Jagau logging road to improve connectivity for residents in rural areas.

Speaking at the ‘Leaders with the People’ programme held at Rumah Fergerson Paul, Jih, yesterday, Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana said the takeover reflects the government’s continued commitment to upgrading basic infrastructure in the interior.

He also provided updates on several key development projects in the Ngemah constituency.

According to Anyi, the Sedaya ferry service is now fully operational, while the Nanga Ngungun-Nanga Bat – Nanga Jagau road project is currently under construction.

He also announced that a special workshop on government initiatives will be held on March 12 at the Kanowit District Office.

The assemblyman called on Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) interested in applying for Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects, Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants or the Sarawak House Repair Programme for the Poor (PPRMS) to contact officers at his service centre.

He also highlighted the one-off academic incentive assistance provided to outstanding students in the Ngemah constituency.

“The incentives include RM300 for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers who obtain at least 3As, RM500 for diploma holders, and RM1,000 for bachelor’s degree holders,” he said.

Anyi also delivered good news to residents of Rumah Fergerson, announcing that an RTP project worth RM100,000 has been approved to replace the longhouse roof.

The project will be implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR) Sibu.

In addition, he approved an MRP grant of RM5,000 to the JKKK of Rumah Fergerson Paul and RM3,000 to the longhouse’s Women’s Bureau to support their annual activities.
