KUCHING (Sept 6): Sarawakian documentary ‘Guardians of the Shore’ won a bronze medal at the ContentAsia Awards in Taipei, Taiwan last night.

The documentary by Kayu Malam Productions (KMP) was the joint bronze winner for the Best Factual Programme Made in Asia for A Single Asian Market category.

KMP managing director Mark Nyambang said the documentary has been a labour of love for almost five years.

“It showcases Sarawak’s amazing efforts to protect our marine resources and the environment for future generations,” he said in a statement after receiving the prize in Taipei.

He thanked the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) for letting KMP document the historic journey of marine experts and crew in deploying thousands of reef balls along 1,000km of Sarawak’s shores.

The gold medal winner of the category was ‘The Negotiators S2’, while the silver medal went to ‘Let Me Tell You A Story’, and the joint bronze medal was won by ‘Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee and Jessica Wongso’, which were all from Singapore.

The ContentAsia Awards are 100 per cent judged by industry peers with hands-on knowledge and experience of the creative and production process.

‘Guardians of the Shore’ premiered in February last year on TVS.

The documentary also received a special merit award at the 15th International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF) 2023 in February.
