BETONG: The Sarawakku Sayang 2026 programme here is targeting up to 115,000 visitors over its three-day run from Sept 25 to 27.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said some 7,000 people are expected to attend the programme’s official opening on Sept 26.
He said 48 agencies will also participate, offering 158 types of services to the public throughout the programme.
“We hope the programme can set a new attendance record, especially with improved road connectivity making it easier for people from various areas to travel to Betong.
“People from Sri Aman, Sibu, the hinterland and other districts are expected to take the opportunity to attend,” he said.
Uggah said this during a press conference at the Betong Division Resident’s Office here today (Sept 19), according to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS).
Uggah, who is the Bukit Saban assemblyman, called on the agencies involved to step up publicity efforts to ensure more people are aware of the programme and the services available.
Among the attractions is a lucky draw offering a Perodua Bezza 1.3X as the grand prize.
Seven other prizes will be offered, including two motorcycles, a Kuala Lumpur holiday package, gadgets, sports equipment, electrical appliances and household items.
Meanwhile, Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee said the programme will also feature Sarawak Cultural Night on Sept 25, with performances by local artistes including Mawat and Lucy M.
A Konsert Rakyat on Sept 26 will feature artistes including Baby Shima and Bob Yusof.
A five-kilometre fun run will also be held on the morning of Sept 27, with 1,000 participants registered so far.
