SERIAN (Jan 9): The number of evacuees sheltering in temporary evacuation centres (PPS) across Sarawak now stands at 473 from 132 households.
In an update at 11am, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Siburan District has the highest number of evacuees at 235 from 65 households in six PPS.
The latest PPS to open in the district is the Kampung Kerumboi multipurpose hall, which is housing 28 victims from seven households.
In Bau, the number of flood victims sheltering at two PPS stands at 151 from 37 households.
In Samarahan, one additional PPS has been activated at the civic centre.
SDMC has also activated PPS at Dewan Mesra Simunjan and Dewan Kampung Jeriah, Sibu.
As conditions have improved in Bekenu, eight evacuees from four households have left the SMK Bekenu multipurpose hall, leaving 72 victims from 26 households at the PPS.
