KUCHING (Jan 3): The total number of displaced individuals evacuated to temporary evacuation centres (PPS) across Sarawak increased slightly to 1,347 as of this morning.

In an update, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the PPS at Masjid Darul Istiqlaal near Kampung Sungai Maong in Kuching recorded an increase in evacuees, rising from 113 victims from 25 households to 133 victims from 27 households.

In Lawas, the number of evacuees from Kampung Siang-Siang sheltering at SJKC Chung Hua also rose slightly, from 100 victims from 26 households to 103 victims from 27 households.

The total number of active PPS statewide remained unchanged at 12.

Due to flooding, Kuching continues to record the highest number of evacuees, with 1,124 victims from 284 households currently housed at eight PPS.

In Samarahan, the PPS at Dewan Suarah Kota Samarahan remains unchanged, sheltering 26 victims from eight households.

Lawas has a total of 193 victims from 50 households taking shelter at two PPS.

Meanwhile, in Miri, four individuals displaced by a landslide are currently accommodated at one PPS.
