SEBAUH (Dec 6): The pre-launching of the Sebauh Bridge (Batang Kemena) marks a major milestone for Sebauh’s economic future, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

He described the project as a key driver of regional growth that will reshape development patterns in the area.

Uggah emphasised that the 728.56 metre-long and 12 metre-wide bridge was not merely a new transport link, but a strategic economic asset.

“After the pre-launch, the bridge can now be used by the public. This fulfils our promise to provide access before Christmas, allowing the community and economy to benefit earlier,” he said.

He added the completion of the project almost two months ahead of schedule means Sebauh was positioned to enjoy accelerated economic spillovers sooner than expected.

Uggah said that by replacing the existing ferry operation, the bridge eliminates delays and operational bottlenecks that previously hampered trade and daily business flow.

“With uninterrupted access, businesses can plan shipments with greater certainty, while residents will experience shorter travel times to Sebauh town and nearby economic centres,” he said.
