SejaTi Madani to ‘Sejahtera’kan Sarikei

KUCHING: The Federal Government has allocated RM1.086 million under the Sejahtera Komuniti Madani (SejaTi Madani) programme to stimulate economic growth in Sarikei.

The contribution handover ceremony was led by Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii at the Meradong District Office’s multipurpose hall recently.

This programme aimed to empower communities by providing grants of up to RM100,000 to eligible groups, fostering economic activities at the grassroots level.

In a statement, the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability identified five key focus sectors for the programme: agriculture and food, sewing and handicrafts, herbs and health, tourism and hospitality, and green and recycling activities.

He encouraged longhouse communities and Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) to actively participate in the programme and seize the opportunity to generate income.

At the same event, Huang presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds to 16 clubs, associations, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the Meradong District.

The recipients of the grants included IPD Meradong Special Branch Recreation Club,SMK Kai Chung Volleyball Club,Lions Club of Bintangor, Meradong Ping Pong Club, Meradong Badminton Club, Meradong Chinese School Teachers’ Association (PGGSC), United Hawkers Association of Sibu Division and Meradong District Sarawak, Kelupu Neighborhood Watch (KRT),Sarawak Furniture Makers Association (Bintangor),Sarawak Liing Hung Wong Clan Association (Meradong Liaison Office), Meradong Lee Clan Association Sarawak, Bintangor Automobile Repairers Association, Kelupu Urban Neighborhood Watch (KRT) Bintangor and Bintangor Health Clinic Advisory Panel.

Also present were Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, Ting Kai Siang, representing the Meradong District Officer; Mohd Tajuddin Yusof, representing the Sarikei District Officer; and Radiah Muhamed, Chief Assistant Director of the Sarawak State Development Office, Sri Aman Zone.
