The Sejingkat Bridge construction project is now at tail end, achieving nearly 85 per cent progress as of April 20, 2026.By DayakDaily Team
KUCHING, April 21: The RM366 million Sejingkat Bridge project, which spans 1.28 kilometres across the Sarawak River, has achieved 84.86 per cent physical completion, marking significant progress towards its full delivery as a key infrastructure link under Sarawak’s coastal road network.
Part of the second Kuching-Samarahan Trunk Road, the project involves the construction of a cable-stayed bridge featuring spans of 200 metres, 400 metres and 200 metres across the Sarawak River. It also includes six spans of approach bridges at both the Tanjong Bako and Sejingkat sides.
The scope of works further covers one kilometre of road widening along the Tanjong Bako main road, a new 220-metre approach road at Tanjong Bako, a 210-metre approach road at Sejingkat, and 645 metres of road widening along the Sejingkat main road.
Cassidy (left) and Wang in a photo during inspection of the Sejingkat Bridge project on April 20, 2026.In a post shared on its social media yesterday (April 20), Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak director Datu Ir Cassidy Morris conducted a site visit to the project to assess its implementation progress and ensure all works are being carried out in accordance with approved specifications, technical standards, and the construction schedule.
He was briefed on-site by Kuching Division engineer Ir Ts Wang Say Kwang, who provided updates on the current status and ongoing developments of the project.
During the visit, Cassidy stressed the importance of continuous monitoring, strict compliance with safety requirements, and close cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure timely project completion for public benefit.
Once completed, the bridge is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Tanjong Bako and Sejingkat, while also enhancing mobility and supporting socio-economic growth in the surrounding areas. — DayakDaily
