KUCHING (Jan 11): Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem paid a visit to Kampung Krusen Kranji following the collapse of the village’s main access road to assess the impact of the recent flooding.

A statement issued by his office following the visit said the road failure has disrupted the residents’ daily activities and commute.

“The village’s water supply was also affected as the main pipeline leading to the community had been damaged,” the statement read.

Riot later proceeded to Kampung Krusen Si-u where a riverbank had given way, severely damaging the suspension bridge there.

The damage affected the primary supporting pillars, which had bent during the riverbank’s collapse.

According to the statement, immediate action will be taken by the relevant agencies once the authorities have completed their assessment of the damage.

It added that urgent assistance has been provided to the affected residents.

Joining Riot for the inspection were Serian Resident Caroline Cleophas Joseph and her deputy Abdul Khalid Manap, as well as district officer Enting @ Inting Nyami.
