KUCHING (Jan 14): Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations (SFCA) president Dato Sri Richard Wee was deeply moved by the personal side shown by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during a townhall session here on Tuesday night.

The event marked the ninth anniversary of Abang Johari’s administration and leadership.

Reflecting on the state’s achievements and future aspirations, Wee praised the Premier’s openness in sharing personal sentiments, including the loss of his wife, as a heartfelt demonstration of his character.

“I was there last night. It was an excellent session where the Premier covered a wide range of topics, from the economic sector and infrastructure projects to renewal energy and tourism, all aligned with his vision for Sarawak’s future on both economic and political fronts,” said Wee.

“The Premier eloquently conveyed his message to the audience,” he said.

“I can feel the positive vibes in the hall after the session ended. Everyone felt proud to be Sarawakians and looked forward to the future that Sarawak is moving towards.”

During the townhall, Abang Johari spoke about his close bond with his late wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, reflecting on lessons learned during their 48 years together.

Though she passed away on June 23 last year at the age of 76, he said her presence is still felt in his daily life.

Abang Johari also acknowledged the ongoing support of his daughter, Dayang Norjihan, who has accompanied him to public events since her mother’s passing.

He revealed that he visits Juma’ani’s grave every Friday, noting that her guidance continues to inspire and guide him.
