KOTA KINABALU (Sept 5): A 52-year-old indigenous local will be walking 150 kilometers to help raise funds for the construction of a well in Sipitang.
Jeffridin Baudi, who currently resides in Sabah Forest Industries (SFI) with 471 other people, said he hopes to raise RM150,000 for the construction of the well with a depth of 500 feet.
“We, the residents at SFI have been without water supply for over one year since it was disconnected,” he said to the media at Dreamtel Hotel on Thursday.
“We need this basic amenity for the wellbeing of our community,” he said.
He added that he spends up to RM750 per month on water alone.
Jeffridin said he will be wearing five traditional attires during the walk.
“I will be wearing Dusun Kimaragang, Kadazan Penampang, Dusun Tatana, Rungus and Murut attires. But I am looking for sponsorship for the attires. Currently, I already have the Murut attire which was sponsored,” he said.
He added that the journey will start from the Menara Kinabalu roundabout to the SFI gate.
Warisan president Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Shafie Apdal will be joining Jeffridin from Sipitang to the SFI gate which is five kilometers in distance.
“That will be on September 16,” he said.
Jeffridin also said that he received shoes and sport bag sponsorship from Sarawak Report for the walk.
