SIBU (Oct 4): The public can do their part for charity and help the blind by supporting the International White Cane Day Sale, said the Sarawak Society for the Blind Sibu.

The event, which traditionally falls every Oct 15, was launched here yesterday with the first sticker purchase by the association’s advisor and patron Datuk Ding Lian Cheon.

Organising chairman Hung Sing Kai said the sale campaign will run from Oct 15 to Nov 15, to benefit the society’s most vulnerable group, as well as to educate the public to give back to the society.

“It is also to raise funds for the running of activities at SSB Sibu, and we greatly appreciate each and every contribution from the members of the public,” he said.

Also present at the launch were SSB Sibu Division chairman Clarence Ting, deputy chairperson Datin Judy Lau, and treasurer Lang Jai Lee.
