Sibu Chinese community leaders present CNY donations to four NGOs

SIBU (Feb 8): The Sibu Division Chinese Community Leaders Association marked the Chinese New Year (CNY) season by presenting donations to four welfare non-governmental organisations (NGOs) here yesterday.

The recipients are the Sibu Autistic Association (SAA); Association for Children with Special Needs Sibu (ACSNS); Methodist Children’s Home Sibu; and Sibu Benevolent Society Care Centre.

About nine association members participated in the charity visit, where Agape Centre Sibu was the first stop.

Contributions were handed over to ACSNS chairwoman Datuk Janet Lau and SAA Chairman David Ngu.

At the Methodist Children’s Home Sibu, the delegation was received by superintendent Lau Sie Tung and his deputy Tie Ling Ling.

The association presented ‘angpows’ (red cash packets) to the children and staff in conjunction with the festive season.

The visit concluded at the Sibu Benevolent Society Care Centre, where the delegation had lunch with the elderly residents and later, distributed mandarin oranges.
