SIBU (Feb 18): In celebration of the Chinese New Year, Sibu Eng Ann Teng Tua Peh Kong Temple has unveiled a vibrant photo-taking area for visitors and devotees to capture festive memories.

According to the temple committee in a statement, the specially decorated installation features bright red backdrops symbolising prosperity and good fortune, along with cheerful New Year elements such as lantern motifs, festive clouds, and cartoon lion dance characters.

“Prominently displayed are the mandarin words Gong Xi Fa Cai and Ma Nian Da Ji welcoming visitors to usher in the Year of the Horse with joy and blessings,” it said.

The photo spot, located within the temple compound, is open to the public and provides a perfect setting for families, friends, and tourists to take pictures during their visit.

The design incorporates traditional Chinese cultural elements while adding a modern, family-friendly touch, making it especially appealing to children and young visitors.

The temple committee said the initiative aims to enhance the festive atmosphere, encourage community engagement, and spread the spirit of unity during the Lunar New Year.

It also serves as a warm welcome to both local devotees and out-of-town visitors who come to offer prayers and seek blessings for the new year.

“Members of the public are encouraged to visit the temple, enjoy the festive decorations, and take memorable photographs while observing temple guidelines.

“The vibrant display not only adds colour to the temple grounds but also reflects the rich cultural heritage and festive spirit of Sibu during this joyous season,” the committee added.
