SIBU (Feb 15): Around 40 students from the Methodist School of Theology, together with members of Wanita Hikmah Ranting Bintangor, paid a goodwill visit to Al-Qadim Mosque here on Saturday, aimed at promoting interfaith understanding and harmony.

In a Facebook post, the mosque shared details of the visit, noting that the programme provided an opportunity for the guests to learn about the mosque’s history, its functions, and the procedures for performing prayers.

Participants also gained insights into Islamic teachings through a guided explanation and sharing session conducted in a respectful and harmonious environment.

“Alhamdulillah, this morning we received a visit from 40 students from the Methodist School of Theology together with Wanita Hikmah Ranting Bintangor.

“It was a very meaningful experience to be able to share about the history and functions of the mosque, as well as to explain the procedures of performing prayers and the beauty of Islamic teachings in a setting filled with respect and harmony,” it said.

The mosque management added that initiatives like this not only broaden participants’ understanding of Islam but also serve as a bridge for unity, fostering mutual respect within Malaysia’s multi-religious society.

Separately, Al-Qadim Mosque recently decorated its compound with lanterns in celebration of the Lunar New Year, an initiative that received positive feedback on social media, with many describing it as a symbol of unity in the nation’s diverse community.
