SIBU (Dec 24): Sibu MP Oscar Ling and his service team recently distributed 2026 calendars, Year of the Horse red packets and handmade biscuits to members of the public at the Sibu Central Market.
Ling said about 1,700 sets of calendars, red packets and biscuits were given out to stall operators and shoppers as a goodwill gesture to welcome Christmas and the upcoming 2026 New Year.
“For three consecutive years, I have distributed the New Year packets and calendars to the people to usher in the New Year,” he said.
This year, Ling added, he engaged local Sibu artists and designers to produce a specially customised red packet design.
The red packets feature Sibu watercolor artworks depicting scenes of Sibu, with Ling’s own watercolor portrait incorporated into the landscape, making them unique and collectible keepsakes.
Members of the public who are interested in obtaining the calendars and red packets may visit the DAP headquarters Rajang Park Commercial Centre, where the items are available free of charge.
