SIBU, Jan 24: Petros has been told to speed up the production of red gas cylinders to meet market demand.
Sibu MP Oscar Ling in a statement today said that recently many consumers have called to complain that they cannot buy red gas cylinders, especially because there are still restrictions in replacing yellow cylinders with red cylinders.
“It is understood that the current supply of red cylinders is intermittent and cannot normally meet the current market demand. In addition, with the Lunar New Year approaching, the public’s demand for gas will also increase. If the supply of red cylinders is insufficient during this period, it will cause inconvenience and distress to the public,” he stressed.
Ling also expressed regret that the Sarawak government did not have a comprehensive response strategy for not renewing the MyGaz subsidised gas retail license.
“A few days ago, the cost of replacing yellow cylinders with red cylinders was directly borne by the dealers themselves, but now there is an issue of insufficient supply of red cylinders. This series of problems raises concerns about Petros’ operational capabilities,” he said.
He emphasised that the Sarawak government should ask Petros to review whether there are problems with their current operating model.
In addition, there are still a large number of yellow cylinders in the market waiting to be replaced, and clear solutions must be found for these, he said. — DayakDaily
