ADVERTISE HERE
SIBU (July 9): Sibu Life Care Society is hailed as a local key non-governmental organisation (NGO) that plays a vital role in augmenting the health assistance and services here.
In his praise, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang says the organisation is known to always help out the less-fortunate groups by providing them with medical services and equipment, as well as personal items.
He said this in his speech prior to presenting to the society a unit of hospital bed, yesterday.
“The initiative by this NGO allows individuals who cannot afford expensive medical equipment such as a hospital bed, to obtain it through a loan programme, with a low deposit of RM500.
“This service is very meaningful towards ensuring that such a vital treatment can be enjoyed, in addition to ensuring that the medical equipment that may be beyond the financial means of some individuals can be accessed,” he told reporters when met at Sibu Life Care Society’s premises here.
The Pelawan assemblyman also commended the NGO for expanding its services by making available its ambulance service.
“Such a service is important, as a response to the lack of this emergency transport here. The ambulance is now ready to provide assistance to the local community,” he said.
Tiang also called upon the local community to support this initiative by making their contributions to the NGO.
Also present yesterday was Sibu Life Care Society chairman Chew Ching Kuong.
