SK Batu Keling’s rebuilt teachers’ quarters officially handed over

KAPIT (Aug 16): SK Batu Keling located at the Bakun Resettlement Scheme in Sungai Asap, Belaga on Tuesday witnessed the handing-over of its newly-rebuilt teachers’ quarters.

Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, who officiated the handover, said the project was part of the Sarawak government’s initiative to repair dilapidated schools.

“With this new quarters, the teachers at SK Batu Keling now have a conducive place to live,” he said.

He commended all parties involved, including the Public Works Department as the implementing agency, for their commitment in ensuring the project was completed on schedule.

SK Batu Keling was formerly located in Belaga bazaar prior to its relocation. It has some 700 pupils and 50 teachers.

Among those present at the ceremony yesterday were Kapit divisional engineer Jawa Gara, Belaga district officer Bidah Lujah, Belaga education officer Thomas Uning, and SK Batu Keling headmaster Apoi Job Ngerong.
