KUCHING (Sept 5): SK St Alban in Kampung Sungai Tapang here has received an RM300,000 grant from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap said the new classrooms will provide a more conducive learning environment for pupils.

“The RM300,000 is in addition to the RM200,000 previously given to the school under my Rural Transformation Project (RTP) and Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds,” he said in a statement after handing over the Unifor grant today.

The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) lawmaker called on the school board to adhere to financial regulations in spending based on the scope of their application.

Yap said the school board is also expected to submit periodic project progress reports to Unifor until the grant is fully utilised.

He pledged to support education-related projects, sharing his plan to help the school replace old furniture next year.

“It is my goal to ensure that every pupil has access to a comfortable and conducive classroom setting in my constituency of N12 Kota Sentosa,” he said.

Yap also called on SK St Alban teachers and staff to work together in nation-building through imparting quality education.

“Together, we can make a positive impact on the education of our children and help Sarawak achieve its vision of a prosperous and high-income nation,” he added.
