SMK Ghafar Baba champion of the DRB-HICOM 2026 South Zone Fashion Competition

KUCHING, 3 Oct: Ghafar Baba High School, Melaka emerges as the champion of DRB-HICOM Fashion Competition Together Metro Day 2026 for South Zone after defeating Permata Insan College, Negeri Sembilan in the final round.

Insan Gem College emerged as the runner-up, while Anjung Batu High School, Johor took third place in the competition held at DRB-HICOM Training Centre, Port Dickson, on September 29.

The competition, which is entering its second year, was expanded to the Southern Zone with participation of high schools from Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.

The final stage uses a performance modeling format that tests participants' ability to think spontaneously, present arguments creatively and build self-confidence through the performing arts.

The DRB-HICOM Communications Chief Officer, Cairil Irwan Amir, said that the competition not only consolidates language and cultural arts but also helps to shape communication skills and thinking among students.

"Fashion competitions not only reinforce the art of language and culture, but also shape skills such as spontaneous thinking, articulate ideas, reasoning skillfully and building self-confidence", he said in a statement.

He said that the support of companies in DRB-HICOM Group to the competition also enabled expertise and resources from various business sectors to be integrated to support the development potential of young generation.

Meanwhile, several companies in the DRB-HICOM Group including PROTON, MODENAS, PUSPAKOM, Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad, DRB-HICOM Auto Solutions Sdn Bhd and CTRM Holdings Sdn Bhd contributed to the competition prize, while Honda provided official vehicles of the program.

The company's involvement also includes science sharing sessions, interactive exhibitions and awareness-raising activities that provide students with exposure to automotive technology, road safety as well as career opportunities in various industrial sectors.

For the Group Category, the winners received RM2,500 in cash as well as trophies and certificates, while the runners-up received RM2,000 and third place RM1,000.

The Schools category offers cash between RM1,000 to RM1,500, in addition to a studio set worth RM5,000 and a certificate to the winner.
