KUCHING, October 6: The departure of Datuk Song Swee Guan is described as a great loss for Sarawak, especially the community in Kuching.

Sarawak's Prime Minister, Datuk Tinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, said Mendiang was not only a humble and dedicated leader, but always put the interests of the people first.

While visiting the family and paying his last tribute today, he said Song had made a huge contribution to Kuching's development, especially when he chaired South Kuching City Council (MBKS) as its first Mayor.

"Mendiang is also a person who is very close to the community and has a strong root support.

"The strength of support can be seen when the candidate wins elections after being proposed to contest in Padungan, thus reflecting people's confidence in his leadership", he said as he met reporters here today.

Brother Johari said that Mandiang has also always put the interests of the people first, especially the people in the DUN area concerned and the Kuching Town community.

Commenting further, Brother Johari announced that the working relationship between mendiang has also been woven since they were active in their respective party's youth wing, with Song in the SUPP Youth while he was in the UN Youth.

He said the relationship was also a foundation for cooperation between the two sides in working as a team for the benefit of the people.
