SPR receives 133 representations regarding the constituency boundaries of Sarawak

KUCHING, 8 Oct: The Election Commission (EC) received 133 representations from interested parties regarding the Syor of Confined Preliminary Examination (CSP) Seventh Federal and Inland Sarawak Electoral Divisions.

SPR Secretary, Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said that out of the total, 126 representatives were opposition representatives, while another seven were those supporting Syor KSP.

"The representation was received during the period of the Syor Preliminary Exhibition of Constituent Parties of Sarawak's Federal and Local Government Elections which lasted for one month, from 1 to 30 September",According to the facts, today.

In this connection, the SPR shall hold a Special Meeting of the SPR to review and discuss all representations received, in particular those eligible for consideration for the purposes of Local Investigation, in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Constitution and the Confined Seminar Study Scheme in force.

According to him, a decision on the Local Investigation process will be made after the Special Meeting.

Obviously, notice to attend the Local Investigation Procedure will be sent to all eligible parties no later than two weeks before the proceedings are conducted.

In carrying out the study, SPR was given a period of two years to complete the study starting from the date of publication of the notice referred to in Section 4, Thirteenth Schedule, Federal Constitution, i.e. 1 September 2026.

"The deadline is until the final report of the study is submitted to the Prime Minister as provided for in Article 10, Article 113, of the Federal Constitution", he said.
