KUCHING (Jan 25): Construction of the new Lawas Administrative Office Complex (AOC) is expected to be completed next month, said State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
He said this during a site visit to inspect the final phase of construction works at the complex in Lawas on Saturday.
He was briefed by the Public Works Department (JKR) Limbang division on the project’s construction progress, which is currently on schedule, according to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
During the visit, Abu Bakar also toured the office spaces designated for various government agencies that will be housed in the 15-storey complex.
The centralised placement of government offices is expected to enhance coordination among departments, expedite administrative processes and improve public access to government services, particularly for residents in the Lawas district.
The construction of the Lawas AOC Complex reflected the Sarawak government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening administrative infrastructure in the northern region of the state.
The project is in line with current needs, the growth of the public service, and the government’s aspiration to further improve the quality of service delivery to the people.
Also present during the visit were Lawas MP Dato Henry Sum Agong, Limbang Resident Yunus Tambi, Lawas district officer Ladin Atok, Premier’s Department Public Service Digitalisation Unit director Datu Grace Huong Siew Hung and Administration Unit director Rusmaliza Mat Darus.
